Socialization of Library Services and Undip Press for the Deputy Dean of Academic-Student Affairs, Heads of Study Programs, and faculty librarians

On Friday, 4 August 2023, the Undip Library UPT held a socialization of library services and Undip Press for the Deputy Dean of Academic-Student Affairs, Heads of Study Programs, and faculty librarians. In his remarks, Vice Chancellor for Communication and Business, Prof. Budi Setiyono, Ph.D., argued that Undip needed to rebuild a library-based academic culture. “To successfully facilitate every educational process, the library’s function needs to be understood by all academic community members. Ignoring or placing the library as a low priority will cause damage and unattainable learning and educational goals,” said Prof. Budi. Academic libraries, Budi said, are a vital component (center of excellence) of literacy in developing the latest references for teaching and learning activities and research. It must be understood that, at present, the role of libraries and librarians has changed due to a world driven by changes in digital technology. In this regard, the Undip library has made various adjustments.

The Head of UPT Library and Undip Press, Suwondo, stated that in terms of physical facilities, the library has been equipped with millennial genre rooms so that students can do their activities in a relaxed, relaxed and clean manner. They feel at home for long workouts in the library. In addition, the library is also supported by a solid and fast internet network. There is also an increasing number of reference databases in the form of journals and electronic books that Undip subscribes to. “This has caused student visits to increase from previously around 300 people per day to more than 1,000 people. The duration of the stay has also increased from less than 1 hour to an average of over 3 hours.
